A veteran trial lawyer, Joel Goldman brings more than forty years’ experience to Clark & Trevithick’s litigation and creditors’ rights and remedies capabilities. Known for his toughness and creativity in and out of court, as well as a knack for resolving disputes quickly, Joel came to Clark & Trevithick from the Los Angeles office of a large national law firm. He has overseen over one hundred trials and arbitrations. One of his most noteworthy cases involved in excess of two hundred collateral lawsuits, thirty appeals and twenty-five other appellate writs, approximately thirty-eight Chapter 11 cases and ended in a victory for his clients.
Joel handles a full range of complex civil litigation matters from small disputes to multi-million dollar cases involving individuals, entrepreneurs, small businesses and major institutional clients. With an eye for solving clients’ problems in a creative and cost-effective way, he handles a wide variety of matters including legal malpractice claims, assorted business tort claims, wrongful termination actions, construction defect suits and RICO. Joel also prosecutes and defends cases involving insurance coverage and bad faith issues, dealing not only with the relationship of the carrier to its insured, but disputes between carriers, including reinsurance and regulators.
Joel received a juris doctor from the University of Southern California and a bachelor’s degree in Economics from Grinnell College. He is a member of the California Bar Association, the Los Angeles County Bar Association, the Los Angeles Complex Litigation Inn of Court, the Association of Business Trial Lawyers and the Commercial Law League of America. He has been a professor of Contracts, Legal Reasoning and Ethics at California College of Law, has an AV Peer Rating from Martindale-Hubbell, and has been repeatedly named a “Southern California Super Lawyer” in the Law & Politics poll published in Los Angeles Magazine.
