With almost 39 years of legal experience, Alex McGilvray specializes in corporate and business transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, securities and other corporate finance matters including venture capital and angel investor transactions and general corporate, partnership and limited liability company matters. Alex has also been appointed on several occasions by SIPC to act as trustee or legal counsel for a trustee appointed for the liquidation of insolvent securities brokerage companies under the Securities Investor Protection Act of 1970. In addition to his duties as a corporate and business lawyer, Alex has served as Clark & Trevithick's managing principal for the last approximately 15 years.
Alex joined Clark & Trevithick as a principal in 1978 after practicing with other firms for almost four years. While in high school, Alex was a National Merit Scholarship winner. After receiving his bachelor's degree in economics, with distinction, from Stanford University in 1971, he attended UCLA School of Law, where he earned his law degree in 1974. While at Stanford, Alex played intercollegiate tennis for two years and was a member of Sigma Chi fraternity.
Born and raised in the Pasadena area, Alex currently resides in San Marino with his wife, Ann. Alex enjoys bird hunting, walking and reading. Alex is a founding member, director and treasurer of Club La Mision, a quail-hunting club located in San Vicente, Baja California. Alex is also a member of The Valley Hunt Club in Pasadena.
