Alex McGilvray specializes in corporate and business transactions including mergers and acquisitions, securities and other corporate finance matters as well as venture capital and angel investor transactions and general corporate, partnership and limited liability company matters.


In addition to his duties as a corporate and business transactional lawyer, Alex has served as Clark & Trevithick’s Managing Shareholder for the last approximately 20 years.

  • Currently representing a Southern California-based producer of cash and coin recycling systems in its proposed sale to a private equity firm for between $35-45 million in total consideration.
  • In 2016, represented a Southern California-based manufacturer of thermoplastic paint products for street and highway marking to a large competitor for approximately $24 million in cash.
  • In 2016, represented a minority shareholder buyout of a Los Angeles-based chemical manufacturer for approximately $7 million in total consideration. Currently representing such client in a leveraged buy-out of an east coast-based manufacturer of aerosol cans containing food, healthcare items and other products in another approximately $7 million transaction.
  • In late 2014, assisted a successful Los Angeles-based LLC providing online and other services to large pharmaceutical companies in a mediated buy-out of a minority member’s interest for approximately $6 million in total consideration.
  • In late 2014, represented an auto body repair company having seven locations in the San Gabriel Valley in its sale to a national auto body repair company for approximately $16.5 million in cash.
  • During the last four years, completed four acquisitions totaling approximately $36 million in total cash consideration for a Los Angeles-based company which provides real estate tax and flood services on a nationwide basis to real estate lenders and others.
